<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-CA">Professor Valdes-Sosa is Co-PI of the Global Brain Consortium (<a href="https://globalbrainconsortium.org/">https://globalbrainconsortium.org/</a> ), Director of the Joint China-Cuba Laboratory for Translational Neurotechnology,
Co-editor in chief of <i>Frontiers in Neuroimaging. </i>He co-founded the Cuban Neuroscience Centre in 1990. He is also a Senior Professor of the Higher Institute for Medical Sciences, a full member of the Cuban and Latin American Academies of Sciences, a
Fellow of the Organization for Human Brain Mapping, and a member of its scientific advisory board.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:6.0pt;mso-para-margin-top:.5gd"><span lang="EN-CA">Dr. Valdes-Sosa obtained an M.D. in 1972, a B.Sc. in Mathematics in 1973, a Ph.D. in 1973 (all in Havana). He did postdoc training with E. Roy John at NYU in 1979. In
2011 he was awarded the Cuban highest degree of Doctorate in Science.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top:6.0pt;mso-para-margin-top:.5gd"><span lang="EN-CA">During his medical studies, he pioneered EEG and ERP multivariate statistical software for the first Cuban microcomputer (1970), being a co-author of the Neurometrics
paper in science (1977). He later expanded this work to quantitative MEG/EEG Tomography-based source localization methods and fusion with fMRI. He also initiated statistical modeling with neural mass models. He has been active in introducing neurotechnology
into the Cuban public health system and advocates for the impact of brain research on Global Health. He has more than 200 with an H index of 55).
