since May is the European Month of the Brain, we are planning to celebrate
with a lecture by INCF Executive Director Prof. Sean Hill on May 21, 13.00
CET at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden.

*Global collaborative neuroscience: Building the brain from big data*
Neuroscience data is highly diverse and fragmented as it is produced
worldwide in thousands of different laboratories and facilities.
Neuroinformatics  aims to enable integration of this data across all levels
and scales of neuroscience to help understand the brain and treat disease:
Thus, Neuroinformatics entails the development of standards  and
infrastructure  for data acquisition, storage, provenance, sharing,
publishing, analysis, visualization, modeling and simulation.

Prof. Hill will discuss how the International Neuroinformatics Coordinating
Facility (INCF) together with its 17 member countries coordinates a
collaborative informatics infrastructure for neuroscience and manages
scientific programs that develops standards and tools for data sharing,
analysis, modeling, and simulation to improve insight into brain function
in health and disease. He will also discuss INCF’s latest development, the
INCF Dataspace, which has been developed to provide a collaborative
research infrastructure to support neuroscientists share data, text,
images, sounds, movies, models, and simulations.
