Dear all,

Here are the logs/minutes from yesterdays meeting. We hope to see you at
the next meeting on 14th November.

In summary (more details + links follow):

- There is still time (until tomorrow, 11th October) to self-nominate
  yourself for the OCNS Board of Directors. Please see:
  https://www.cnsorg.org/election-procedures

- CNS 2024 will be in Natal, Brazil. July 20-24, 2024: https://www.cnsorg.org/cns-2024

- The Simselect task force has completed the v0.1 prototype and is
  looking to now work on improving it to get to the next release. It is
  looking for more people to participate---not necessarily to contribute
  code, but to help with the design and use cases and so on to ensure
  that the resource is useful to the community.

  So, please do join the meetings, it's only an hour every two weeks.
  The next meeting is tomorrow (Wed, 11th Oct) at 1300 UTC.

- The CompNeuro cook book is up and running. Please contribute any
  snippets you use frequently to it so that the community can also use
  them.

- Instead of organizing another round of intensive satellite tutorials,
  we had an idea that a "replication challenge" would perhaps be more
  useful + advantageous to the community. The idea would be that we'll
  all work with model and simulation developers to replicate published
  models and submit them to the re-science journals for publication.

  What do you think about this? Please let us know on this ticket:

Full minutes below for your convenience, and they're also published on
the website here:

Other discussion
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Satellite tutorials in 2023/2024
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
- not sure if a week of online tutorials is the best format, given our experience in 2021
Replication challenge
++++++++++++++++++++++
- Similar to the `ML replication challenge <https://paperswithcode.com/rc2022>`__
- Replicate published models
- Submit to `rescience-c <http://rescience.github.io/read/>`__ for review + publication
- Will involve lots of community members, who already replicate existing models in their projects
- Will involve simulator developers who can help people with their specific questions
- Fits in with both INCF/OCNS goals
- ACTION: Ankur mail OCNS/INCF, software wg, and simulator developers to get feedback on idea
- ACTION: Ankur open ticket to collect feedback
