[Neuro-2008-committee] Congress status

Dear program committee,

 

It is my great pleasure to inform you that we now have;

 

-confirmed all speakers (except for workshop C).

-received title, photo and bio sketch of all speakers.

-received workshop symbol pictures from all workshops (except C).

-fixed a preliminary program.

 

This means that we are in good shape for starting registration on Monday. We
are still working to finalize the workshop page, the general info page, and
the poster and demo info page in time. 

 

The next issue for the program committee, given that the plans for workshop
C works out, will be to shape the workshop panels. These will include the
workshop leaders, workshop speakers and keynote speakers, together with some
additional names. The INCF secretariat plans to arrange one or more “regular
style” workshops the day after the congress (September 10th). There will
most certainly be people invited for these that will be excellent
contributions to various workshop panels. I hope to get the topic categories
and names as soon as possible, so that we will know what workshop panels
that could benefit. 

 

Please start thinking of possible appropriate names for panels and of what
an appropriate size for a panel would be. 

 

Regarding the abstract reviewing process: Abstract submission ends May 2nd.
The committee will need to review the abstracts in the two, three weeks
following that. Submitters will choose between predefined topics. Every
topic is coupled to a certain workshop and abstracts will that way be
channelled to the program committee members responsible for the appropriate
workshop. The decisions to be made are 1) what up to 150 posters to accept
(i.e. all appropriate abstracts pass), 2) what 10 demos to accept (Shiro,
Raphael), and 3) what abstracts to choose for 5 minute oral presentations
within a workshop?
