We invite graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and advanced
researchers in neuroscience and related fields to participate in the 2nd
Baltic-Nordic Summer School on Neuroinformatics, to be held at Tampere
University of Technology, Tampere, Finland, on June 10-13, 2014. The Summer
School is focused on computational modeling of brain functions at the
cellular, network, and cognitive levels and on new emerging multiscale
modeling techniques. Lectures also contain introductions to tools for
multiscale modeling, databases, and sharing of data, as well as examples on
how to do computational modeling of cognitive functions and neurological
diseases.

Venue:

The summer school will be held in Tampere, the third largest city in Finland
with over 200,000 inhabitants. Tampere is one of Finland’s fastest growing
urban centers and, according to a survey, the most popular city to live and
study in. Tampere is located in southern Finland 180 km north of Helsinki.
The Summer school will be held at Tampere University of Technology, which
has strong research tradition in natural sciences, engineering, and fields
related to industry and business. Leading-edge fields include signal
processing, optics and photonics, intelligent machines, biomodelling, and
built environment.

Important dates:

- 7 March 2014: Application deadline
- 17 March 2014: Acceptance notification
- 10 - 13 June 2014: Summer school

Faculty:

Bruce Graham, University of Stirling, UK; Arnd Roth, University College
London, UK; Gaute Einevoll, Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Ås,
Norway; Jeanette Hellgren Kotaleski, Royal Institute of Technology,
Stockholm, Sweden;   Gediminas Lukšys, Basel University, Switzerland;
Summer School Organizers and others to be named.

Organizers:

Marja-Leena Linne, Tampere University of Technology, Tampere, Finland;
Ausra Saudargienė, Vytautas Magnus University, Kaunas, Lithuania; Gaute

Practical arrangements:

There is a small tuition fee of 100 euros. The sponsor will provide
teaching, meals and coffee during the course. The participants are expected
to cover their travel and health insurance expenses (small scholarships for
accommodation available for those without funding).

We are very much looking forward to welcome you at the 2nd Baltic-Nordic
Summer School on Neuroinformatics (BNNI 2014) on 10-13 May 2014 in Tampere,
Finland!
