*Coming to London for the Best Brain Informatics Conference of the Year -
BIH’15 Call for Participation*
*What is BIH’15?*
The 2015 International Conference on Brain Informatics & Health (BIH’15) is
one of the top class conferences in Brain Informatics. It aims to give a
common thesis of Informatics for human brain, behaviour and health. The
conference provides a premier forum that will bring together researchers
and practitioners from neuroscience, cognitive science, computer science,
data science and neuroimaging technologies with the purpose of exploring
the fundamental roles, interactions as well as practical impacts of Brain
Informatics. Co-Chaired by Prof Yike Guo and Prof Karl Friston, BIH’15 is
organized by Imperial College London, together with other co-organisers
from all over the world.
*When and where will BIH’15 be hosted?*
BIH’15 will be held at the Royal Geographical Society, at the heart of
London, from 30th August to 2nd September, 2015.
*What’s special about BIH’15?*
*1) High-impact speeches in Brain Informatics*
A great number of world leaders in brain research will present in BIH’15,
including:
BIH’15 Keynote Speakers:
- Allan Jones: Chief Executive Officer of the Allen Institute for Brain
Science;
- Karlheinz Meier: Professor of Universität Heidelberg;
- David C. Van Essen: Alumni Endowed Professor at Washington University
School of Medicine;
BIH’15 Feature Speakers:
- Giorgio A. Ascoli: Founding director of the Center for Neural
Informatics at the Krasnow Institute for Advanced Study of George Mason
University;
- Henry Kennedy: Director of Research at Stem-cell and Brain Research
Institute, France;
- Barbara Sahakian: Professor in Department of Psychiatry at the
University of Cambridge;
- Nelson Spruston: Janelia Group Leader and Scientific Program Director
at Howard Hughes Medical Institute;
- Paul Verschure: ICREA Research Professor, Head of SPECS research group
at Universitat Pompeu Fabra;
- Paul Matthews: Edmond and Lily Safra Chair of Translational
Neuroscience and Therapeutics and Head of the Division of Brain Sciences in
the Department of Medicine of Imperial College, London;
*2) Cutting edge research and high quality presentations*
- During the conference, we will have high quality talks from both brain
and informatics communities presenting the state-of-the-art research in the
field, including 40+ oral presentations, 70+ highlight talks/poster
presentations in the BIH’15 main conference as well as 50+ talks in 10
BIH’15 satellite symposiums/special sessions/tutorials.
*3) Media coverage of the panel discussion*
- BIH 2015 also has a panel discussion among the leaders of the big
brain initiatives in the world, moderated by Sarah Caddick from the Gatsby
Charitable Foundation. The discussion will be around the topic “Very large
scale approaches to understand the brain”.
*4) WORLD EEG Festival:*
- The WORLD EEG Festival will be hosted together with the BIH’15 and a
number of world-leading EEG hardware/solution companies will attend and
demonstrate the latest EEG technologies. Topics such as Brain-Computer
Interfaces applications, next-generation EEG devices and commercialization
of EEG related services will also be discussed during the festival.
*5) New Business Models for Personal Mental Health in Big Data Era Forum:*
- The special session “New Business Models for Personal Mental Health in
Big Data Era” will be organised during BIH’15. The forum will bring
together brain (disease) foundations and funding agencies from all over the
world with the aim of enhancing knowledge sharing on funding support for
brain research projects. Representatives of foundations and funding
agencies will give presentations covering advice and strategies for
acquiring funding for future research, and discuss their preferred new
business models for personal health in the Big Data Era.
*Who is attending the BIH’15?*
BIH’15 gathers people who are doing cutting edge research in the field of
Brain Informatics. It will create great opportunities for researchers to
exchange ideas, identify emerging challenges and present novel results from
different domains in a more focused manner. You can expect to meet 200+
leading brain focused informaticians in the BIH’15. We warmly welcome young
researchers and students to attend this conference to explore this rare
opportunity of their career development.
