The Oathes Lab in the Center for the Neuromodulation in Depression and
Stress (CNDS) at the University of Pennsylvania is seeking a full time
Neuroimaging Data Scientist to join our team. This position offers a highly
interdisciplinary research experience, combining approaches from network
science, cognitive neuroscience, and statistics with neuroimaging to better
understand the neurobiology of psychiatric conditions and to develop
personalized brain-based interventions. The data scientist will work with
principle investigators, post-docs, graduate students, and technical staff
to build and maintain data informatics and processing platforms to support
ongoing multidisciplinary studies. There will also be opportunities to
participate in major methodological and analytic developments in the fusion
of multimodal functional and structural neuroimaging with transcranial
magnetic stimulation (TMS), including processing and analysis frameworks
for interleaved TMS-fMRI data.
The lab is affiliated with the neuroscience graduate program and we have
numerous collaborations across medical disciplines, biostatistics,
psychology and engineering. The TMS/fMRI equipment is highly customized and
state of the art. Our offices are housed in a beautiful historical
renovated space in the center of campus.
Philadelphia is a large city on East Coast of the United States about 2
hours from New York City or Washington D.C.; both can be easily accessed by
train. The University of Pennsylvania is one of the oldest and most
prestigious universities in the U.S.
Qualifications: Masters degree or PhD in neuroscience or engineering, such
as Biomedical Engineering, Cognitive Neuroscience, Computer Science,
Statistics or a related field is required. PhD preferred. Strong
computing and programming skills are essential including working knowledge
of Linux operating systems and proficiency with at least one scripting
language (shell/python). Familiarity with popular neuroimaging software is
strongly preferred, including FSL, ANTs, AFNI, FreeSurfer, Connectome
Workbench, and SPM. Strong quantitative and statistical background as well
as familiarity with at least one technical computing language such as R,
Python or Matlab also strongly preferred. This candidate should possess
excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills and have the ability
to prioritize and work with deadlines.
Please send a cover letter explaining your interests, c.v. and copies of
two relevant publications (or preprints) to: oathes AT upenn . EDU .
