Dear all,

We have a fully funded Ph.D. position in systems neuroscience at
Heidelberg University in Germany. Please forward to any interested parties!

Please see the full description
here:https://www.findaphd.com/phds/project/corticothalamic-interactions-in-perceptual-salience/?p116902

*Medical Biophysics at the Institute of Physiology and Pathophysiology,
Heidelberg University**
**Ph.D. position: Corticothalamic interactions in perceptual salience*

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically oriented Ph.D. student
to study neuronal circuit mechanisms underlying sensory learning and
salience encoding in the thalamocortical system. The project combines
behavior (texture discrimination in freely moving mice),
optogenetics/chemogenetics and electrophysiology.

Desired profile:
A Diploma/Masters in a biomedical, life-science or related discipline
(e.g. neuroscience, biology, medicine, physics, cognitive science).
Experimental experiences in neurosciences are a prerequisite (preferably
neurophysiology and / or behavior). Experience in data analysis or
programming using MATLAB/Python/R etc. is strongly preferred. Experience
in methods to obtain and interpret neurophysiological data, and /or
behavioral assays is highly desirable. Applicants with strong analytical
skills and a flair for handling large datasets are particularly
encouraged to apply. The working language in the lab is English.
