Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the first workshop organized by the European
Ontology Network (EUON). This event will take place on September 25th, 2014
in Amsterdam back to back with the Research Data Alliance
<https://www.rd-alliance.org/> 4th Plenary meeting (22-24 Sept) and 3rd
EUDAT <http://www.eudat.eu/> conference (25-26 Sept). EUON workshop
will be free
to attend.

EUON aims to bring together experts in Ontology and Semantics working
across any discipline including in the sciences, social sciences,
humanities and arts. Members are from both academia and industry. EUON aims
to enable discussion of technical aspects, share know-how and
domain-specific good practice and form partnerships and collaborations.
EUON is free to join: www.euon.org

We are pleased to confirm Professor Robert Stevens of University of
Manchester and Dr Jean-Pierre Evain of the European Broadcasting Union will
give guest talks at the EUON workshop. More details on their chosen topics
to follow.

The workshop will also feature a panel discussion, presentations from
attendees, poster session and a networking session.

We invite authors to submit abstracts for presentation at the EUON workshop
within any of the themes listed on the website
http://www.eudat.eu/euon/euon-2014-workshop . We encourage submissions from
any domain; abstracts do not need to represent original work.

Important Dates

Abstract submission deadline: 18 July 2014

Notification: 23 July 2014

Workshop: 25 September 2014

Submission Process

The maximum length for abstracts is 350 words. Please submit using the
following EasyChair link:

https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=euon2014

*Popular Questions We've Received:*

*Q. Is EUON about ontologies only?*
A. No, it's all semantics - e.g. schema, vocabularies, ontologies and
applications in e.g. semantic web. The EUON name is a shorthand. We
encourage submissions from all areas of semantics.

*Q. I don't know anything about ontologies, is EUON relevant?*
A. Absolutely. Part of the remit of EUON is to help share expertise and
experience with the community. You don't need to be an expert and we
welcome those just beginning to look at semantics from any field of study.

*Q. What will registration fee be/does EUON cost to join?*
A. No, both are free including lunch (you have to pay your own travel of
course so almost a free lunch).

*Q. Is EUON only European?*
A. This is our primary audience but we encourage anyone interested in
collaborating with Europe to come/join too; all are welcome.
